Integrated water quality or treatment zones can be incorporated into any Retain-It storm water infiltration, detention, or retention system. These micro-systems can be designed to take advantage of fluid dynamic principles, achieving TSS capture, oil/water separation, trash and debris retention and extended dry detention favorable to nutrient reduction.

Treatment zones are created within a system by applying walls, weirs, baffles and orifices to a grouping of standard modules. These “isolation chambers” are conducive to slowing flow velocities, thus creating low turbulent flow regimes that induce sedimentation and separation. Also, by applying flow control retention times critical to chemical additive treatment, we can allow for controlled contact and reaction time chambers, followed in the given treatment train by induced sedimentation zones.

Additionally, through proper sequencing of the treatment parameters, the same volumes can be credited towards detention and retention attenuation requirements. The overall effect is a reduction of the total volume of the entire storm water management process and thus a reduction in total costs of the system.
